On October 17-18, the Department of International Economic Relations of Sumy State University hosted the IX traditional regional tournament of young economists.
The regional tournament has already become a favorite competition for young economists of Sumy region. This year 10 teams from Sumy and Sumy region took part in the tournament:
- «Конотопські відьми» (Konotop Specialized School I – III grades №3 of Konotop City Council of Sumy region);
- «CLASSIKA» (Sumy Classical Gymnasium of Sumy City Council);
- «Меридіан» (Sumy secondary school of I-III grades № 15 named after Dmitry Turbin of Sumy city council);
- «Alter Ago» (Sumy specialized school of I-III degrees №10 of Sumy city council);
- «ОНІКС» (Sumy Specialized School of I-III grades № 7 named after Maxim Savchenko of Sumy City Council);
- «Капітал» (Sumy secondary school of І-ІІІ grades №4 named after Hero of Ukraine Alexander Anishchenko of Sumy city council);
- «П’ять золотих» (Sumy institution of general secondary education of I-III degrees №21 of Sumy city council);
- «ІНСАЙД» (Sumy comprehensive school of І-ІІІ grades №12 named after B. Berestovsky of Sumy City Council);
- «Вега» (Sumy Specialized School of І-ІІІ grades №1 named after V. Strelchenko of Sumy City Council);
- «100%» (Velykopisarivka district station of young naturalists of Velykopisarivka district council of Sumy region).
The jury of the tournament included highly professional scientists and lecturers of the Education and research institute for business technologies “UAB”. It was headed by his doctor of economic sciences, professor, director of the Education and research institute for business technologies “UAB” Diakonova Iryna. The members of the jury unanimously agreed after the event that all, without exception, the participants were distinguished by their high erudition, breadth of outlook, ingenuity and ability to defend their point of view. For pupils, this tournament is an additional opportunity to communicate with like-minded people, to compare their own achievements, to learn the oratorical art, the literacy of the opponent, the demanding of the reviewer, the ability to ask polemical questions. Participants defended their presentations, carefully compared the presentations, entered into polemics, thereby deepening their own knowledge.This year the winner at the Sumy Regional Tournament of Young Economists is the “CLASSIKA” team of Sumy Classical Gymnasium of Sumy City Council.
The next teams shared second place:
- «Конотопські відьми» (Konotop Specialized School of І-III grades №3 of Konotop City Council of Sumy region);
- «Меридіан» (Sumy secondary school of I-III grades № 15 named after Dmitry Turbin of Sumy city council).
The 2019 Young Economists Tournament was a special one – by the decision of the jury, for the high level of preparation, impressive erudition and thirst for victory, the third place was shared by other teams participating in the tournament.
Many participants of the competition were awarded in separate nominations:
- “Best Player of the Tournament” – Kovalenko Bohdan «П’ять золотих» (Sumy institution of general secondary education of I-III degrees №21 of Sumy city council);
- “Best Captain” – Halynskyi Artur (Sumy Classical Gymnasium of Sumy City Council);
- «Best Speaker» – Nikolaienko Karyna (Sumy secondary school of І-ІІІ grades №4 named after Hero of Ukraine Alexander Anishchenko of Sumy city council);
- “Best opponent” – Otych Mykhailo (Municipal Institution Sumy Specialized School of І-ІІІ grades № 10 named after Alexander Butko of Sumy City Council);
- “Best Reviewer” – Salii Yuliia (Konotop Gymnasium of Konotop City Council of Sumy Region).
During the closing ceremony, all tournament participants were awarded with certificates and valuable gifts from Sumy State University and the Department of Education and Science of Sumy Regional State Administration.
The tournament organizing committee expressed its gratitude to the teachers for their dedication, active life position, and indifference to the development of the young generation. Teachers were awarded by diplomas for preparing the team to participate in the tournament.
