The history of table tennis at the Education and Research Institute for Business Technologies “UAB” of the Sumy State University dates back to 2001. Around that period the future champions of Ukraine in table tennis were beginning their training here. In 2003 the team won the third place in the 1/32 final of the European Cup. The season 2004-2005 was a successful one for our team when it was competing with athletes from Luxembourg and Iceland. It took the first place in the 1/16 European Cup. Entering a group of 16 strongest teams in Europe in two seasons became a solid achievement of the Institute’s students. That was a period of their formation as high-level sportsmen. Now each of them is a master of sport, member of the national team of Ukraine. Oleksiy Sarmatov is currently a coach of the junior team of Ukraine. In season 2013-2014 Alexander Tuzhylin represented the Institute in the championship of Ukraine. The new table tennis team of the Institute is also demonstrating excellent results in the national and regional contests.
